Spring 2021 Senior Reading Suggestions: Home

A list of new books in the Senior School Library for your reading pleasure.

INFORMATION BOOKS

Fantastic Fiction is an incredibly useful website that allows you to search over 50,000 bibliographies of bestselling fiction authors.  You can:

* Search for your favourite authors and see their latest books

* See the correct order to read their books, which is particularly useful when you want to read a series in the correct order

* See your favourite authors reading recommendations

I have read a number of incredibly good crime books this term.  Below is a selection of some of the ones I would highly recommend.

ClickView is handy even over the holidays. Firstly it may fill in gaps where you have missed a series and even has limited Foxtel content. You also have access to a workspace where you can save up to 20G of video content to watch later (traveling with children  overseas on a budget anyone?). Sign on using your school email and your normal laptop password.

Luc Longley

If you're like me and love basketball, this 2 part series on Perth legend Luc Longley will be worth watching.  Airing on Australian Story, Luc talks about life after basketball and explains his non-attendance on the Michael Jordan Netflix special "The Last Dance".

Australian Now and Then

I absolutely loved this series!  This was a battle of the four generations, Boomers, X, Y and Z, which asked celebrities "which generation had it the best?"  I, of course, am of the strong belief that Generation X had it the best.  We had 80's music, 80's movies and when we wanted to hang out with our friends (and they were real friends, not Facebook friends), we would just ride our bikes (with spokey dokey's on the wheels and not a stack hat in sight) around to their house and see if they were there.  At sports carnivals, we only got medals for coming first, second or third and teachers could still give us the cane!  Totally hilarious, this series is a real trip down memory lane.

ABBA Forever

I am abbasolutely beside myself over ABBA reuniting.  Listening to the first 2 new singles (the first in over 40 years) I was immediately taken back to my childhood where I thought Agnetha was the most beautiful woman in the world.  I wanted to sing just like her.  My poor parents put up with endless hours of me singing ABBA songs, with my headphones on, completely out of tune.  Anyway, the new album, "Voyage", is out on the 5th of November.  If you're after some feel good nostalgia, make sure you watch this awesome documentary.  If one good thing has come out of 2021, ABBA getting back together is definitely it!
